INTRODUCTION TO WORKS

Melancholy

49cm x 67cm 480€

I began this work during the recovery period after having surgery. I was in a hurry to start an exhibion for which I had received a working grant. At first, there was despair and melancholy. The recovery progressed and the production of the work got off to a good start. In the work, the colors and the division of the surface with a strong compressible frame reflect my state of mind at the time.

Adapted

30 cm x 39 cm

The work depicts a person who, despite his vitality and radiance, is trapped in a certain mold, restricted and shackled by convention. The subjugated individual struggles against this, and still seeks his own identity. The black color of the background reflects the sense of uncertainty. The contrasts of the materials enhance the dispari-es within the piece.

At the Corner of the Boathouse

75cm x 46cm 560€

The work depicts a typical coastal landscape; a boathouse with the sea and rocks in the background. The waves of salty seawater have removed the paint surface from the bottom of the falu red boathouse wall. The landscape is serene and reminiscent of a time when fishermen made their living from the sea.

Balance

Man has always sought a balance between things as well as balance between himself and the things around him. The present time we live in especially requires a lot of balance from a person.

Visitor

80cm x 140cm SOLD

Finland's national bird is the swan. The swan has always played a symbolic role in our folk tradition. The bird has been valued and feared. Visitor's feathers are sickle and scythe blades, and its body is a moped fuel tank. I also made feathers from blade shears. There is other scrap metal in the work as well.

The Tired Lord

60cm x 30cm x 52cm 780€

Man, who considers himself to be the king of creation, is tired of today’s consumption and fast-paced life. In this work I have used a moped fuel tank for the body, a hoe for the feet, and a rake for the tail. The head is made with a ladle and funnel, in addition to other small pieces of scrap metal and recycled material.

The Throne of the Forest Nymph

This is a small work which could be the throne of a spirit living and reigning in the forest. The arches of the backrest represent the horns. The seat fabric is hand-woven and takes inspiration from the fabrics of royal thrones. The work is humorous and imaginative. It allows you to enter the fairytale world of the forest.

Common history

120cm x 155cm 2800€

We all have a common history when viewed globally, but we do not have a common past. Hopefully we will learn things from our history and each person or nation will make use of the knowledge they have gained from it. In this work you can see traces of wars and bloodshed, but also the passage of time and love. Experiences and actions are entwined into a unified whole.

Everyone together

420€ - 450€ / kpl

Personally, I wish that despite cultural differences, different social background, different status and skin color, people could come together and cooperate. The work also reflects the interac-ons of different personalities and people of different ages.

Lok von Rock

28cm x 52cm 580€

This bird is a rocker who has left the wild years of his youth behind.

Patchwork Fields

106cm x 140cm 1650€

Here I have weaved an autumn field landscape of a small holding using natural materials. As different grains ripen they change colour, and when the sun’s rays hit the stalks of a freshly harvested grain field, it often sparkles like gold. The work is an aerial view and the narrow metal strips are ditches that divide the fields into their own patches. The wood of the frame is a plank from the wall of a Finnish hay barn.

Sauna Door

56cm x 100cm 720€

The work is hand-woven from different shades of cotton, linen and wool. The hinges, latch and nails are all real. This representation of a door reflects the passing of time; patinated and worn-out, the sauna door has been opened many times in its life. The sauna has been an important place for people-

from birth to death.
