I am a contemporary artist from Satakunta region of Finland. I graduated as textile artisan from Loimaa vocational collage of arts and crafts (Loimaa käsi-ja taideteollisuusoppilaitos) in 1990, and recived Bachelor`s degree in textiles from Lounais-Suomen käsi ja taideteollisuusoppilaitos in 1994.
In my works, I use technique which combines hand-woven fabric with recycled metal and wood. I also create pieces purely from recycled metal. i am fascinated by contrasts and it is displayed in my work. The seamless co-operation between different elements is a theme that carries throughout my art.
Metal and stone are powerful elements, contrasting with textiles whichrepresets softness. Also humor and seriousness create and intensify contrasts and depth in my work. I "paint" with yarn made of different materials and shades when i weave the fabrics for my pieces. The importance of collour, surface texture and structure are highlighted in this multifaceted storytelling.´where every detail is carefully considered. I would consider technical craftmanship, use of materials and plasricity of my work to be my strenghts as an artist. I have arranged several private and joint exhibitions since 1997.
i am an active member of many cultural co-operations, such as Rauman Taiteilijaseura Ry.
In addition to private collections, my work is displayed in many public places, such as the central hospital of Satakunta, The restaurant within the Theather of Rauma and premises of Lähivakuutus insurance company. Works are also on display in several locations across the city of Eura. I Have been awarded many prizes in the 2000s. Gallery Sanna Saarinen is located in the idyllic old town of Rauma. My works are created in Eura, where i live with my husband, cat and dog.
